Marilyn Callahan

Fine Artist Marilyn Callahan, Islamorada, Florida

Marilyn Callahan has been capturing the Florida Keys in her art since moving to Islamorada in 1974. As the co-owner and artist-in-residence of three Upper Keys’ art shops from 1974-80, Marilyn produced original paintings, batiks, prints, drawings, soft sculptures and textile designs that explored her fascination with the islands’ natural beauty. In the 1980’s and 90’s, Marilyn was commissioned by designers, gallery owners, restauranteurs and collectors to produce murals, large batiks, pastels and tropical stencil designs.

In recent years, Marilyn has focused on painting with oils and acrylics, which she feels are the most direct form of expressing her love of the Keys. Besides producing her own artwork, Marilyn was the art teacher at Key Largo School for 25 years, and was named Monroe County Teacher of the Year in 1995.

Select originals and giclée prints on canvas and paper are available on this site and can also be purchased in person at the Shady Palm Art Gallery & Frame Shop in Marathon and Art on a Whim Gallery in the Rain Barrel Village in Islamorada in the Florida Keys.
